General Notes: Husband - George R. Bell, D.D.S.

He received a good academic education, and remained upon the home farm until he attained the age of nineteen, when he started out in life for himself. He first engaged in teaching, and successfully followed that honorable calling for eleven years, but at the end of that period resigned his school and took up the study of dentistry. Entering the Philadelphia Dental College, he was graduated in 1889, and at once opened an office in Brockwayville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, where he remained for two years. In 1891 he located in Punxsutawney, and developed a large and lucrative practice.
He and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The Doctor affiliated with the Republican party, and while he has no aspirations for political honors, he served in school offices, and was for one year president of the board of education in Punxsutawney, of which he was later secretary.
