General Notes: Husband - John Bell

He and his brother, James, came to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and settled on Charles [Chartiers?] creek, he purchasing some six hundred acres on the east side of the creek. Soon after this settlement the balance of his father's family also came to Allegheny County, where they remained and died.

He and his brother, James, took out patents for four hundred acres, each on opposite sides of Chartiers creek. Clearing the land and farming was their principal business, while they were continually harrassed by the Indians, particularly during the Revolutionary war.

He and his wife had three children; Samuel was the youngest.
