General Notes: Husband - Peter Bennehoof

He was a hammerman on a forge for about five years. He came to Venango County, PA, in 1830, and purchased a piece of land in Cherrytree township. He lived in the village of Cherrytree about fourteen years. Had a family of seven children. He was a member of the United Brethren church for about 25 years; built and paid for a church himself, (except $146), and employed a minister yearly, and paid him out of his own pocket. [HVC 1879, 567]

About 1830 his father came to Venango County, PA, and purchased what was known as the Mason farm, on Oil creek. Peter, his son, thereafter came into possession of this farm, which produced oil in fair quantities.
