He served as Collector of Taxes; he acted as special agent for the Provost Marshal for two years during the [Civil?] war; he held nearly all the township offices. He owned a well-improved farm of about thirty-five acres. Politically he was a Republican.
He and his wife had eight children; seven were still living in 1884.
