General Notes: Husband - Alexander Lee "Alec" Best

ALEXANDER LEE BEST
At the bereaved home in Knox Township starting at two o'clock on Friday afternoon, the Rev. C. E. Downing, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Reynoldsville, will con-duct funeral services for Alexander Lee Best, 75, one of this communi-ty's best known and most highly re-spected residents.
Taken ill at the home of a son, Arthur, in Washington, D. C., with whom he was visiting, Mr. Best was returned to his home and, growing weaker steadily, passed away after a month's illness of complications at 11:30 o'clock yesterday (Tuesday) morning, June 8th, 1937.
Following the funeral services, with which the officers and members of the local P. O. S. of A., of which the deceased was long a member, will assist, burial will be made in the Reynoldsville Cemetery.
Mr. Best was born near Deemer's Cross Roads, a son of William and Frances (Moore) Best, November 30, 1882, and spent his boyhood days there. When a youth the family moved to West Reynoldsville. and here, February 17th, 1886, Mr. Best was married to Anna M. O'Donnel, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur O'Donnel. For a number of years after his marriage. Mr. Best worked for a time at the lumber mill operated by his father-in-law at O'Donnel, below town. He also worked for a time in the local tan-nery before moving, 37 years ago, onto the farm in Knox Township where he and his wife spent the re-mainder of their lives.
To know Mr. Best was to like and respect him. Industrious, fair and honest in all of his dealings, he made acquaintances easily and these acquaintances, through his many admirable traits of character, soon became warm friends. The deceased wes a member of the Baptist church here, active in its work when health permitted, and was also an active member of the local P. S. of A. and K. of P. orders.
Surving are two sons, Guy A., of Brookville, and Arthur O., of Washington, D.C., three daughters, Flo B. Straitwell, of Renoldsville, Dora B. Shobert, of Brookville, and Fannie, at home, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Bollinger, of Reynoldsville.
