General Notes: Husband - John Middleswarth

He came from New Jersey in 1792 to locate in the woods near the later site of Beavertown, then a portion of Northumberland County. The pioneers came through almost unbroken forests, cutting their roads as they traveled, and crossing rivers without bridges. An Indian trail ran by their door, and at a spring near-by friendly members of that race dressed their game while on their hunting trips
