He came from the Susquehanna River in 1800, and settled on Tract 427, in the western part of Union township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. He was a prominent citizen, an Elder in the old Fairfield Township Seceder Church, and an Associate Judge of the county.

He was the second sheriff of Crawford County.
