General Notes: Husband - William Franklin Holtzer

He received his education at the local district schools, and was trained to the life of the typical farmer's boy. Though a considerable portion of his father's farm was sold, he still had ownership of seventy-six acres of the old place. He built all the buildings, and in 1891 erected a house. His life work was the operation of this farm, where he did general farming for many years, but about 1907 he retired from its active management, after which time the place was operated by his son, Oliver M. Holtzer.
For more than twenty years he was secretary of the County Fair, and being associated with it beginning in 1889. For two years, in 1894 and 1895, he was its president, an office which he resigned to take the secretaryship at the end of the latter year, a position to which he was unanimously elected thereafter. The office involved him in the task of superintending all advertising, such as the posting of bills, etc., done by the Fair and he was often a conspicuous exhibitor there. He was a Democrat in politics; for a number of years he was road supervisor, and also served for a long period as school director.
