He removed from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Washington County, Pennsylvania, in 1790 and there following farming until his death, which occurred in his sixtieth year. He was justice of the peace, by governor's appointment, for a period of thirty years.

He came to Washington County, Pennsylvania, before 1787, being then well advanced in life. He was elected justice of the peace Nov. 1, 1799. A tract of land was warranted and patented to him.
