General Notes: Husband - George Boone

---

The Boone family came from Bradwinch, about eight miles from Exeter, England. George Boone came with his wife to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 10, 1717, accompanied by eleven children. He purchased a tract of land in what is now Bucks County, which he called Exeter, and also he bought land in Maryland and Virginia. He and his wife went to Abington, after living for a time in Philadelphia, and then to North Wales, where they remained about two years; then to Oley in the same county of Philadelphia, now in the township of Exeter, Berks County. The Boone family seems to have been Episcopalian in religion, but while in Pennsylvania they permitted themselves to be considered Quakers.

He served as a justice of the peace for many years, and practiced surveying, having surveyed a number of the townships in proceedings for their erection. He was the grandfather of Daniel Boone, the Kentucky pioneer. He took up a tract of four hundred acres in Oley (now Exeter) in 1718, about which time he settled there and erected and carried on the first mill in this section of the province.
The Boone mill was situated on the Monocacy Creek, several miles from the Schuylkill.
