He was born in Ireland, and came to America when but sixteen years of age. He was a house-painter and followed this for some years, after which he was able, from his earnings, to retire and enjoy the comforts of life. He lived in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, where he served as one of the school directors.

She was a native of Ireland, who came to America with her mother at the age of six years. Her father had died in Ireland before her immigration.
