General Notes: Husband - Samuel Borland

He died March 26. [VCCR5, 75]
He was born on the farm where his son Edward now [1919] lives, and which formerly comprised 165 acres, forty of which he sold. It lies a mile and a half from Freedom and half a mile from Davis Corners, in the center of a tract some two miles in diameter which contains several good farms - the only part of the township favorable for agriculture. Samuel Borland carried on the improvement of his property throughout his life, following general farming very successfully, rebuilt the house, built a substantial barn in 1878, and led a busy and useful life. He was associated with the Democratic Party, like his father before him, and took an active part in local politics and public affairs, filling township offices acceptably and giving such duties the intelligent attention characteristic of him in all his undertakings. He held membership in the M. E. Church at Davis Corners. [CAB, 969]

HBC 1909, 1348 does not list his sons F. Leslie or Alva, but instead lists twins Arlestus and Alvin.

General Notes: Wife - Maria Nicely

She died of typhoid fever.
