General Notes: Husband - William Borland

He was a young man when he came from his native Ireland to America. He first settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he followed farming, and later removing to Armstrong County, bought about six hundred acres of land, for the most part covered by timber. He built a log house and made a permanent home there, devoting the remainder of his life to the improvement of his property. He was a man well known in the locality in his day, an Episcopalian in religious connection, and in politics a Republican during his later years.
