General Notes: Husband - Dr. John C. Taylor

He adopted the medical profession, thus treading in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. At the beginning of the Civil war he raised a company of the Eighty-fourth Regiment, Indiana Volunteers, of which he was afterward elected lieutenant-colonel. He was with General Sherman in his famous march to the sea, and participated in twenty-seven battles. From the close of the war to the time of his death he practiced his profession in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties, Pennsylvania.

After the war, instead of returning to Muncie, Indiana, where he had located previous to engaging in the conflict, he came to Pennsylvania.
