He and his wife came to America from Switzerland in 1809 with one child, Mary, aged seven years. They made the journey in a sailing vessel, requiring fourteen days for the trip, and settled on a farm in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where they resided until they died, both reaching a ripe old age.
