General Notes: Husband - Christian Herman

When the War of the Revolution began he was yet a young man, but he enlisted in the Continental army, and served at Valley Forge and Germantown, and was under Washington in the various engagements and marches which led up to the siege of Yorktown and the surrender of Cornwallis. After the close of the war he went to his home near New Kingstown, and engaged in farming.

He and his wife were members of the Lutheran Church; had a family of eleven children, eight of whom lived to be men and women and had families.

He was born on the old family homestead, and in the course of time became a large land-holder and prominent farmer, owning 640 acres of land. He was a short, strong man physically, and died at the age of sixty-one years.
