He was educated at Edinboro Normal and was engaged in the production of oil in Butler County, PA, for a number of years, after which he became a member of the firm of Miller Brothers & Company, of Titusville and Oil City. He established his own store in March, 1889. He was a member of Queen City Lodge, I. O. O. F., of Titusville, and the E. A. U. of Wallaceville, a Democrat in politics, and filled various township offices.
