General Notes: Husband - [Father] Boyd

The Boyd family came from Ireland to America to escape religious persecution and were among the early members of the Presbyterian Congregation of "Old Salem" in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Four sons of this family, Revs. John, Abraham, James and Benjamin Boyd, were "ministerial sons of Old Salem."
There is a tradition that after embarking for America one of the children of the family developed small pox and they were compelled to return to shore and the ship sailed and was never heard of again. Some time later they embarked on another vessel and reached America in safety.
