He lived his entire life in County Antrim, Ireland, finally dying there, and all his life was connected with the great linen industry for which Ulster was justly famous. He and his wife were both members of the Presbyterian Church.

Besides those listed, there were two other children who died in very early youth in County Antrim, Ireland.
