General Notes: Husband - William Boyd

He was a native of Ireland and settled in Tyrone township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. His father was killed by the Indians on the Potomac river, April 13, 1757.

He came to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, from Virginia some time about the close of the Revolution, making the journey to his new home on the west border of Bullskin township on pack-horses. He brought with him several slaves, and six negro children were registered as being born to these from 1795 to 1809, namely, Andrew, Millie, Ben, Prissie, Samuel, and Alexander, but of their subsequent history nothing can be said.
He was a man of considerable education, and served for a number of years as a justice of the peace. He died and was interred on his homestead.

The founder of the Fayette County family was William Boyd, who moved from the Shenandoah valley to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in 1784, settling in Bullskin township. His farm "Springhill," on "Mount's Creek," consisted of two hundred and forty acres, which was patented to him in June, 1786, by the government. He bore a commission as justice of the peace, dated 1792. He was a man of education, and held high positions in the township.

The source states that his family consisted of eight children - and then gives only seven names.
