General Notes: Husband - John Peter Richter

He was born at the old home on the Isle of Que, Selins Grove, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, but when he was seven years old his parents moved to an adjoining estate. His education was begun in the subscription schools of that day, but the major portion of his time was spent in farm and other work, as was the custom of that time. When yet a young man he took charge of his farm (inherited from his father), adjoining Selins Grove, and resided there.
In 1857 Mr. Richter erected a pleasant and handsome home which he occupies, and in 1871 he put up a fine large barn. The estate comprised 120 acres, and was one of the garden farms of the county.
