The Braddocks were originally from Loudoun County, Virginia, and were among the first settlers of Greene County, Pennsylvania.

He was one of the pioneer settlers of Greene County, Pennsylvania, when the western part of it was all a wilderness. He first settled in Richhill Township, settling on the old Braddock farm which he took from the Government.
