He was the first person outside of the Cooper family to locate at Cooperstown, Jackson Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. He came to the county with his father's family in 1816 and settled at Cooperstown in 1824. He was a millwright by trade. He served one term as county commissioner and was justice of the peace many years.
