General Notes: Husband - John Cushwa


In 1846 he purchased a farm from Jacob Brewer, and for many years was a prominent man in Montgomery township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He was a firm friend of the celebrated Dr. Philip Schaff, the noted Biblical authority, who spent many of his leisure hours on the old farm.

He was born in Maryland and received his education there. He resided in Maryland until he had reached middle life, and then moved to Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He represented Washington County, Maryland, in the Legislature for a term or two, and also became a prominent citizen of his adopted state, Pennsylvania. [BAFC, 595]
