General Notes: Husband - Richard C. Welty

He was educated in the township schools, where his early days were spent, finishing his studies at Greensburg Academy. Choosing railroading as his business, at an early age he entered the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad, at Greensburg, being employed in the baggage room. After a term of years spent here he was advanced for faithful performance of his duties to the position of train baggage master. In due course of time he was promoted to conductor. He made his home in Greensburg, where he had a beautiful residence on the corner of Arch and Otterman streets. Politically he was a Democrat. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Fraternally he was a Free Mason, belonging to Philanthropy Lodge, No. 225, F. and A. M.; Urania Chapter, No. 192, R. A. M.; Olivet Council, No. 13, R. and S. M. and Kedron Commandery, No. 18, K. T. He also belonged to the Order of Railway Conductors.

He had a collection of curios which was numbered among the finest of its kind in the country. He had for many years taken a great interest in this connection and given much time and attention to it. While it included a great variety of curios, he devoted his attention particularly to all sorts of military weapons such as guns, pistols, swords, knives, etc., etc. Many of these specimens were very rare and of great value and about many of them again hung histories that would quicken the pulse and cause many a shudder if they might be repeated.
