General Notes: Husband - Samuel Musick

He was reared on his father's farm. He became a pupil in the local schools and attended them until sixteen years of age, when he enlisted in Company B, One Hundred and Forty-second Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and served in the Civil War from August, 1862, until July 6, 1865, when he received his honorable discharge at Boston, Massachusetts. During that time he saw much active service and participated in many important engagements. He was three times wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg, once in the face, once in the chest and a third time in the right leg. These wounds incapacitated him for further service, and after a period spent in the military hospital he was removed to the Veteran Reserve Corps, in which he served until the close of hostilities. He returned to his home in Westmoreland County, and in 1871 engaged in the lumber business in Indiana County. He remained there for about ten years. In April, 1885, he removed to Lycippus, Westmoreland County, and two years later established himself in a general mercantile business which he continued until 1915, when he retired.
He was a Democrat in politics, and prominent in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Lycippus.
