General Notes: Husband - Josiah Zahniser

He received his education in the common schools, and became a farmer. He was drafted for service in the Civil War, and insisted on going, but his father, rather than give up his only son then at home, hired a substitute. He settled at marriage on a portion of the old homestead. He and wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and he was a stanch Republican. [HMC 1888, 931]
