General Notes: Husband - Lewis Morris Wallace

He received his early education in the public schools and then attended Grove City College. He joined his father in the lumber business, the firm name until 1900, being W. E. Wallace & Son, then it was changed to Wallace Brothers, Frank W. Wallace taking his father's place in the firm, and continued in this form until June, 1919, when the business was sold to the Citizens' Lumber Company. Mr. Wallace was then out of business for about two years, then became manager of the Port & Wick Lumber Company, remaining thus engaged until 1924, when the Curry Lumber Company was organized, M. Louis Wallace becoming secretary, W. S. Wick, president, and William Curry, treasurer and manager. The office and yards were located at No. 704 W. Grant Street, and the company sold rough and dressed lumber, doors, sash, building supplies, roofing, paints, etc. It had its own railroad siding, operated three large motor trucks, and covered a territory of about fifty miles radius. In production it was one of the largest concerns of the kind in Lawrence County. Mr. Wallace was also president of the Mahoning Undertaking Company, of New Castle.
M. Louis Wallace was a Democrat, and served a term as member of the Common Council of New Castle. During the first World War he was a "four-minute" speaker. He belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Kiwanis Club, and the Board of Trade. He was an elder of the Mahoningtown Presbyterian Church.
