He was employed for eighteen years at Kramer Brothers Livery Stables in Butler, Pennsylvania, having charge of their barns. He then located with the J. G. & W. Campbell Hardware Company as a clerk and remained with them for fourteen years. He was a Republican and a member of Bethany Reformed Church.
