General Notes: Husband - Alexander Culbertson

He bought land of Alex. Guthrie of Delaware in 1787; land was in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He sold part of this in 1807 to Thomas Culbertson of Derry Township, and balance of land in Westmoreland County in 1813. He moved to Wayne County, Ohio, in 1813-14. Family records say he moved to Millbrook.

His son stated in 1855 that his father was in the Revolution. There seems to be no record of Revolutionary service for him in the Delaware Archives. It is possible that Alexander left New Castle County, Delaware, in 1778 and went to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. There was an Alexander Culbertson "taxed in 1782-3 in Newton Tp., Cumb. Co., Pa. with one horse and one cow\emdash Trade
5." This Alexander may be the Alexander Culbertson who "served in Capt. Noah Abraham's Co., 8th Batt'n, Col. James Johnson, Aug. 10, 1780." (Vol.
23, 3 Ser., p. 699 Pa. Arch.) No further record is found of him in Cumberland County after 1783. He evidently was only a renter there. After 1775 he does not appear on records of New Castle County, Delaware, although Thomas appears there in 1786. Does not appear on Deed Records of Westmoreland County until 1787.
