General Notes: Husband - Asahel C. Brown

He was reared on a farm and at the age of twenty-one he went to Pittsburgh and was a glass blower for five years, but afterwards returned to Waltersburg and took up farm life again. In 1893 he went to merchandising at that place, in addition to which he was engaged in farming and stone shipping. He was a staunch Democrat, and was postmaster under Mr. Cleveland for four years. He accumulated considerable property, consisting of farm and coal land, stone quarries, houses and lots in Waltersburg, a store-house and a nice stock of general merchandise.
