He was a descendant of Peter Brown, who came to Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at an early day from eastern Pennsylvania.
He was the original proprietor of what was later known as Andrews Mills.
He and his wife, Elizabeth Flaugh, had ten children; four were still living in 1885.
