General Notes: Husband - Albert Culbertson


He came to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when a youth and began life as a clerk in a store. For a time he kept books for a commission firm (Poindexter & Co.), and afterward engaged in the commission business on his own account. In 1858 he went to Monongahela City and commenced the manufacture of paper, his mill being the first west of the Allegheny mountains and the second in the United States to use steam-rolls.
