General Notes: Husband - Oliver Hazard Perry Brown


In association with Samuel S. Hamilton, he established what became the department store of Brown & Hamilton Company in 1878. At the beginning they occupied one small room at No. 35, later No. 212, East Washington Street, New Castle, Pennsylvania, and the business rapidly expanded. In 1907 it was incorporated under the new name, with Oliver Hazard Perry Brown as president and treasurer and S. S. Hamilton as vice-president and secretary. On the death of the president, in 1908, his son, succeeded to his interest.
