After leaving school he entered the employ of William Gibson and Company, druggists, of Jamestown, Mercer County, PA, with whom he remained until 1896, when his father purchased the store and the business was continued with success under the style of P. Clark & Co. After the death of his father, William T. accepted a position with the East Ohio Gas Company, of Cleveland, and after being thus engaged for about a year became identified with the city gas department. But his strong attachments to Jamestown induced him to return to his native city, and after his re-location there he held a responsible position with the Jamestown Paint and Varnish Company.
