General Notes: Husband - David Kling Buchanan


He came to Venango County, PA, in 1872, and engaged in the oil business. In 1884 he purchased the ferry across the Allegheny river at Scrubgrass. He was elected justice of the peace in 1883, and served with ability and credit, being re-elected in 1888. He served as school director, and was president of that board. He also gained some fame as a writer, his contributions to the columns of the Oil City Derrick under the nom de plume of “Uncle John” and “The Corporal” elicited considerable favorable comment. He and his wife were members of the Cumberland Presbyterian church.
