General Notes: Husband - James Long

He learned the trade of a sickle and scythe maker in his father's shop in Drumore township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and followed it through-out his life on an adjoining plantation.
In April, 1800, when he joined with his brothers and sisters in the conveyance of his father's Martic township plantation, he is described as "of Frederick County Maryland, Cutler." Two of his brothers, Hugh and Robert, having taken up their father's trade in Drumore township, it is probable that he and his other brother John found it convenient and profitable to follow their vocation elsewhere.
However, he returned to Drumore township in 1808, and purchased on March 24th of that year, of Archibald Ancrim, and Elizabeth, his wife, a tract of land in Drumore, on which he located. On April 1, 1808, Benjamin Fell, and Jane his wife, conveyed to him an adjoining tract.
