General Notes: Husband - Dr. James Glenn Dickson

He was brought up on his father's farm in South Fayette township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and received his primary education at the subscription schools of the neighborhood, which was supplemented by a few terms at the public school, and instruction under the preceptorship of Rev. John M. French, pastor of the Associate Church at Noblestown; then in 1843 he entered Jefferson College, from which he graduated in 1847 under the presidency of Dr. Robert J. Breckenridge, of Kentucky. In 1848 he commenced the study of medicine with Dr. J. V. Herriott, of Canonsburg, attending during the winters of 1849-50 and 1850-51 Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, where in the spring of 1851 he received his medical diploma. In the summer of that year he commenced the practice of his chosen profession at Mount Jackson, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, remaining there one year. Then at the solicitation of his preceptor, Dr. Herriott, he returned to Canonsburg and entered into a partnership with him, which continued about two years, at the end of which time Dr. Herriott removed to Philadelphia, Dr. Dickson continuing the practice alone in Canonsburg. Upon the return of his old partner, after an absence of several years, Dr. Dickson again associated with him, but at the end of three years Dr. Herriott moved to Valparaiso, Indiana, and Dr. Dickson continued alone in his professional practice.

He united with the Associate Church of Noblestown in 1843. He was a member of the Chartiers United Presbyterian Church after his residence in Canonsburg. In politics, a Whig and Republican.
About 1885 Dr. Dickson erected a commodious family residence on the corner of Pike street and Greenside avenue.
