General Notes: Husband - John Peter Roman Bureau


A silk merchant of Rheims, France, he was one of two hundred colonists who came to America after the French Revolution. He was present at the overthrow of the Bastile and assisted in demolishing that world-famous edifice. Mr. Bureau and his fellow countrymen settled in Ohio, founding the town of Gallipolis.
