General Notes: Husband - Samuel Barnes

He was born in County Down, Ireland, and immigrated to one of the eastern counties of Pennsylvania. About 1795, accom-panied by his wife and two children, he came to Mercer township, Butler County, and settled on 200 acres of land. The patent for this land was obtained by his son William, April 6, 1832. He built his cabin in the midst of an unbroken forest, and there spent the remaining years of his life.
