General Notes: Husband - Rev. Jacob Coon


In MINUTES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, it is stated that Rev. Jacob Coon held the following pastorates in Ohio after 1841: 1842, Poland, Ohio; 1844-46, Middle Sandy Church, Salem, Ohio; 1847-49, Middle Sandy & Rehoboth churches; 1850-51, Rehoboth & Brookfield churches; 1853, Hayesville, Ohio. In 1853 or early 1854, Rev. Coon moved to Illinois, his first residence in that state being at Lake Fork X Roads in Logan County, according to the authority quoted above. In the spring of 1854 he is found as principal of the Academy in Freeport, Illinois.
Later pastorates of Rev. Coon were: 1859-61, Camden, Camden Mills, Illinois; 1862, Camden & Beulah; 1863, Beulah; 1864, Albany & Newton churches, Albany; 1865, domestic missionary, Sterling, residence Albany; 1866-70, Albany church, Albany. At the age of 70 he was honorably retired and continued so until the time of his death.
