General Notes: Husband - Noble Butler

He came to Chester County, Pennsylvania, and married, Rachel Jones, of Goshen. A few years later they settled in Uwchlan township, and were members of Uwchlan Meeting, of which they were both overseers. In 1758, Noble fell under the censure of his friends for discounting notes at a higher percentage than they could approve. A committee appointed in the case reported that the complainant "had a bad bargain, but it was of his own seeking," yet as Noble declared he would do the like again if opportunities presented, he was disowned. [HCC 1881, 492]

He came to America in 1716, about two years before the death of William Penn. He landed at Philadelphia and entered under the rules and regulations of Penn, one thousand acres of land at a very small price in Yeochland township, Chester County. He was a single man when he settled on this large farm, but not long after his arrival he was married. They had twelve children, the youngest of whom was Benjamin.

General Notes: Wife - Rachel Jones

from Goshen Twp, Chester Co, PA

She was of Welsh descent.
