General Notes: Husband - James Scott Guffey

Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co, PA

He was reared and lived on the old homestead Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, up to 1876, when he purchased the old Scott farm in Allegheny County, which was the homestead of his great-grandfather on his mother’s side. He removed thereto, and resided there up to the time of his death. He was a staunch Democrat in politics, and served many years as tax collector and member of the school board of Sewickley township, being up to the time of his removal therefrom one of the best known men of the locality. He was a member of the Presbyterian church for fifty years, and for many years served in an official position. He was a schoolmate and in later years an intimate friend of Senator Henry D. Foster and Senator Cowan.
