He was educated in the public schools of Beaver County, and with the exception of two years spent his life on the family homestead farm. The homestead consisted of three hundred and fifty acres of land, and Mr. Potter rented it in 1894, cultivating it as a farm for general products. His political allegiance was given to the Democratic party.
