He worked for years as a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Later he was employed as a barber.

BODY TO ARRIVE TONIGHT.
Death of C. L. Campbell Was Very Sudden.
The body of C. L. Campbell, whose death occurred Thursday morning at Turtle Creek, will arrive today on the 5:51 train on the Pennsylvania. The body will be accompanied by C. E. Wertman, who went to Turtle Creek yesterday, Mrs. C. L. Campbell, two sisters, a brother and a sister-in-law.
Death was due to heart failure. Mr. Campbell became ill Wednesday afternoon but his condition was not thought serious until a few minutes before he died.
The body will be taken to the Wertman home and funeral services will be conducted by Rev. T. J. Barlett, assisted by T. W. Pearson at the house Monday, probably at 2 o'clock.


General Notes: Wife - Sara Elmina Wertman


She was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and attended Indiana State Normal School, Indiana, Pennsylvania, a two-year course. She taught school in Cranberry, Sandycreek, Jackson, Sugarcreek, and Pine Grove Townships, Venango County.
She was a member of the Minnie Rebekah Lodge #144, joining on April 30, 1915. She served as the Noble Grand of that organization beginning June 30, 1930. She was also a member of the W. C. T. U.; Nursery Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, #25; the Helping Hand Class of the Seventh Street Church of God where she taught an adult Sunday School Class and for many years sang in the church choir.

Mrs. John E. Knox, Former Teacher in Area Schools, Dies
Mrs. Sara Wertman Knox, 66, wife of John E. Knox, 335 Elk Street, died in the Franklin Hospital at 2:40 a.m. today following a lingering illness. She had been a patient for the past week and died following an operation.
A veteran teacher in the township schools, Mrs. Knox retired several years ago after serving as an instructor in Cranberry, Sugarcreek, Sandycreek, Jackson, and Pine Grove Townships. She taught for 25 years and was employed at Lincoln School, Bully Hill, at the time of her retirement.
She was born Dec. 8, 1886 at Galloway, the daughter of Henry and Alice Beatty Wertman. She lived her entire life in this vicinity and was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She attended Indiana State Normal School prior to entering the teaching profession.
She was married to Charles Lloyd Campbell, who died in 1917. A daughter to this marriage, Mrs. Guy Snyder of Franklin, survives. She was united in marriage to John Edwin Knox in 1923. Surviving besides her daughter and husband are a sister, Miss Bertha Wertman, who resides at the Knox residence; and two brothers, Dr. Charles E. Wertman, and Bert B. Wertman, both of Rocky Grove.
Mrs. Knox was a member of Minnie Rebekah Lodge No. 144 and was a past noble grand of that lodge. She also belonged to the Nursery Chapter, No. 25, Order of the Eastern Star and was a W. C. T. U. Member. She was a member of the Seventh Street Church of God and the Helping Hand Class of that church.
The body was removed to the Hoovler Funeral Home and was taken to the residence 335 Elk Street today. Services will be conducted in the Seventh Street Church of God at 2 p.m. Monday and interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery. Eastern Star funeral rites will be conducted in the Knox residence at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be conveyed to the church at noon Monday. Rev. John Woods, pastor of the church, will have charge of the services, assisted by Rev. E. E. Starr, former pastor.

MARRIAGE A SURPRISE.
Miss Sara Wertman Becomes the Bride of C. L. Campbell.
Though they were married on March 31st by Rev. J. D. Clemmons, C. L. Campbell and Miss Sara E. Wertman kept their marriage a secret from their friends until yesterday. They didn't want to an­nounce it until Sara's school was closed.
The Reed school of Cranberry township closed Thursday, and with that event came the announcement that she was a bride of nearly four weeks. She was graduated from the four-year course in the Rocky Grove High School, and has been teaching since, most of which time has been spent in Cranberry township.
Mr. Campbell was for years a tele­graph operator for the Pennsylvania railroad. Recently he has been employed as barber, of which trade he is also a master.
Congratulations are being ex­tended now to Mr. and Mrs. Campbell from their many friends in Rocky Grove and Galloway, and with them goes the desire that the young couple may reside in the Grove.

ROCKY GROVE
CAMPBELL-WERTMAN.
On March 31st C. L. Campbell and Miss Sarah E. Wertman of Rocky Grove, were married by Rev. J. D. Clemmons and kept the marriage a secret until today. The bride has been a teacher in Cranberry township for six years and was teaching at the Reed school, which closed yesterday for the summer, at the time of her marriage. The bridegroom was formerly a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania railroad and for some time has been employed at the barber trade. Both he and his bride have a wide circle of friends who extend their good wishes.
