General Notes: Husband - Watson J. McCracken

He was born Nov 25. [HMC 1888, 1115]
He was educated in the public schools, also at Sheakleyville, New Lebanon and Grove City, Mercer County, PA. He settled at marriage on his father's farm, and later located on the farm in New Vernon Township later owned by Thomas Carnahan, of York County, Neb. He was a member of the K. of H. at Sheakleyville, and the K. and L. of H. at New Vernon. He and wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In politics he was a Republican. [HMC 1888, 1115]

After attending district school until he was twelve years of age he entered the McElwain Institute and continued there for two terms. He then spent a term at Iron City College and later went to Rochester, New York, where he completed his commercial education at the age of twenty. Soon after his marriage he engaged in mercantile business at Clark's Mills, where he remained for a year and then was appointed manager of the business operated by Beals and Simon at Canard, Pennsylvania. While thus engaged he and his wife contracted typhoid fever, from which he died after a four weeks' illness. [HMC 1909, 983]

General Notes: Wife - Laura J. Canon

She was a cultured and thoroughly educated lady, who, after spending three terms at McElwain Institute, taught music for some time before her marriage. [HMC 1909, 983]
