General Notes: Husband - Peter Gearhart

He was born at the old homestead in Decatur township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and spent the first sixteen years of his life there. Then followed some years in Pike and Lawrence townships, agriculture occupying his attention as he took upon himself the responsibilities of manhood. He became a prominent dairyman and agriculturist of Lawrence township, Clearfield County, owning a farm near Curwensville. It contained 130 acres, and when it came into his possession in 1878 was partially improved; but he has added greatly to its value, building a comfortable and tasteful residence and a good barn, 50 x 64 feet.
He was a Democrat, and as a member of the school board he did effective service in the cause of education. He was affiliated with the Grange, and with his wife was a member of the Centre Methodist Episcopal Church.
