General Notes: Husband - Samuel Fellows Selden

In 1868 the family moved to Erie, Pennsylvania, where Samuel attended the public school, from the primary through to the high school, continuing his studies at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, where he graduated as a civil engineer. Returning to Erie after extended travel in Europe, he engaged in the business of brick-making, with his uncle, John C. Selden, and upon his uncle's death he continued for several years in that business in partnership with his brother Edward. He became a director in the Erie City Iron Works in 1894 and took an active part in the management of that business until his death.
