He owned 189 acres of land, all of which was well cultivated, and he raised sheep and cattle; he also bought and sold a large amount of live stock. In politics he affiliated with the Democratic party, and filled many local offices. In religious faith he was an ad­herent of the Old-school Baptist Church.
