General Notes: Husband - Samuel Alvin Work

He lived with his foster parents from the age of four years. He was educated in the common schools and summer school of Fairfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, afterward studying for one term at New Wilmington College. He graduated from Monmouth College, and later entered the Allegheny United Presbyterian Seminary, where he remained three years. He was ordained to the ministry of the United Presbyterian church, and beginning in 1905 was living in Egypt as a missionary.
So rapid was his advancement when a boy at school that at the age of thirteen he successfully passed the county examinations and received a teacher's certificate, though of course too young to enter upon the duties of an instructor.

General Notes: Wife - Ellen Adams
